Thunder, Rain…

hanging with dogs

The Weather Horse, Rev and Johnnie doing some chicken investigation, Little John cannot contain his excitement as the others wonder why, heavy overcast with damp warm air hanging on after spectacular lightning and rain overnight, thunder this morning with more rain, sad news tempered with peaceful joy continue the balance of life…

The Living – Still Easy…

highlight

The Weather Horse enjoying a late Summer treat with high heat, humidity and clear sunny skies, treasure this and keep it for a short January day next year, oranges and reds appearing in the tree lines, pond water getting chilly but inviting today, lazy dogs,  purring chickens, hunting cat on a real beauty morning.

Summer Hangs On!

crabapple

The Weather Horse reports crabapples reddening, light misty rain dampening, heavy overcast  sky awaiting the sun to break through later, new prospects, no eggs yet, compost tomatoes providing, appreciating warmer temps and clinging summer.

Happy Monday!

over there

The Weather Horse reports fall like temps with bright clear skies, chickens like cheese, Rev munching stolen corn cobs from the compost pile, the yellow bus picking up boys for school, the rising sun at a distinctly different angle stretching shadows long and reminding to enjoy the remaining warmth of the late Summer days.

Shake it Off!

head shake

The Weather Horse reports birds abundant with turkeys taking a turn around the block, crows silently swooping down from the trees, chickens scratching for bugs and eating romaine in the pen, heavy cloud cover spitting drops in front of cooler air coming, tucking in the tomatoes tonight – just in case.

Sweet Summer Day

DSC07685

The Weather Horse reports bright sunshine with long clear shadows stretching West, mild breezes playing in the leaves, cooler overnight with a barred owl hooting nearby, heavy dew drenching hoofs, life teeming with hummers, bees and dragonflies – in and out of the greenhouse – enjoying the colorful palette of petals, sweet days seeming shorter as time takes its toll.

New Neighbors!

new neighbors

The Weather Horse reports a few interesting new neighbors worth investigation, strange clucking & crowing, sudden flurries of feathers, not geese this time but Buckeye chickens, under mostly sunny skies after some valuable rain, lush foliage to forage, weeds mown down before going to seed, a gentle day to welcome a four day week full of new beginnings.

An Extra Day to Enjoy!

pastoral

The Weather Horse is slightly wet from pitter pattering intermittent rain fall, bright overcast with occasional leakage, mowing seems doubtful, ragweeds are towering threatening seeding for next year, some trees showing a  faint change of hue, ponds are cooling but still quite swimable (especially with a great rope swing!), the weekend providing an extra day to enjoy our sweet summer.

Comes around again…

with dogs

The Weather Horse reports a Friday pestered by dogs, overcast and misty start – burning off slowly on the hill, crickets chirping with the sounds of Summer, tomatoes ripening, woodpile drying, a sweet circle back in time – only to come around again in a slightly different form, ever passing time bringing on a new day.
