Navigating winter’s slick and slippery icy path, blue jays squawk a screeching song and stay way clear in naked branches, cool air still in place, solid overcast aloft – heavy with a threatening cast. Greetings across the country to a B-Day boy, likely raining there!

Sweet contented nose in hay, sunshine warming countenance as gentle rays play among the softening snow, welcome temps begin the day relaxing eyelids and soothing the harsh exit of January.

Almost balmy today compared to the long stretch of icy fingered single digit mornings, fluffy coat softening to a velvety relaxed reddish brown contrasting with cooler tones of gray in the sky and on the ground, expecting birds to return with Springlike temps, poopcicles marring the view will be melting for removal around back, dogs delighted that paws aren’t paining from the now past grasping cold.

Tightly curled rhododendron leaves return to a relaxed shape in milder temps – Lancer fluffed and soft amidst the cold, hard stone and wood – freezing rain and snow intermittently spitting with changing air from the south – gray with a dark start to the day – temporary respite from the chill as January wanders through winter. While winter has fattened the sleepy Sterling cat – finally the day has come that she wished to go out, the forgotten sound of screen door climbing returning before long, milder temps energizing Rev leading him to find a giant stick, Lancer fueling up with his butt into the rambunctious winds, blowing forelock reveals his white blaze, an easier day to be out, morning beginning a bit earlier, enjoy the Weekend, celebrate life!
