Finally out after spending the storm in the barn, eating lots of hay, fluffed fully against a frigid wind blasting, freezing paws and short black coats cannot contend with coercive cold driving dogs to lay in front of the stove, warm fresh water by sled from the kitchen will shortly harden to ice, a frozen egg cracked, patterns of powder like deserts as snow flies up in whirls spinning across the field.

Bright beginning to a new year, winter settling in with coldness despite the sun, the layer of ice now covered with a light sprinkling of white making it mostly slippery, Catalpa seed pods dancing in light breezes, Lancer fluffed in response to a the chill, Rev strolling through the hay pile caught in the sideways light, orange cat and white dog passing through the field below each in their own time, the constant path of past, present, future to move us all passing through.
