Begin the Week or End the Long Weekend

trotport

Trotting out to the field under bright blue towards the vivid reds and oranges edging the field, Lancer has a splinter – probably from itching on the trees – I think its out now, sun warming the day to celebrate an 80th among other things, the completion of a long time project this weekend, a light frost on the barn roof earlier – sparing the plants, a delightful Monday to either begin the week or end the long weekend, enjoy!

Off to Enjoy the Day

off

There goes The Weather Horse, off with Rev to savor the day, cloudy start with a light frost, tomatoes seem OK for another little while though slow to turn, trees turning quickly to paint the landscape with a warm palette to a peak of color, possible rain to come later.

A Fine Fall Day

drink

Another stunning fall day for the Weather Horse and Rev, with brisk breezes, chilly temps to start, partly cloudy skies, coat thickening for  the coming season, leaves drifting down to the ground littering color everywhere, the smell of Autumn as rich as the sights.

Rooster Wrangling

smirk

The Weather Horse reports a breakout of the chicken pen, rooster wrangling ensued, Rev learns to herd, a successful capture and the worms are safe again, sunshine and beauty blue sky bringing temps up to comfy, lovely breeze dancing the reds and golds in the trees, excellent day in the works.

In the Clouds

in season

In low clouds, fog and light misty rain, The Weather Horse enjoying the fruit of the season, sour, small crabs, dropping some for Rev who tries to eat them too, mild fall temps here on the hill, appreciating the peace of the rural after the severity of the city, rich color muted in the thick air, appearing on the ground now, eventually to be buried with white carpets.

Rainy Friday

rainy

The Weather Horse, wet with Rev under gray skies, showers and light rain, steam rising up from his back, mild temps closing our late summer week – a temporary respite from the typically colder fall – larger drops splashing now, taking down the splendor of the trees, lessening the light, pitter pattering on the greenhouse with a peaceful rhythm.

Still Like Summer

american

The Weather Horse reports one more summerlike day, tomatoes still ripening, the quiet morning broken by yipping coyotes not far enough away, leaves glowing in early light, celebrating the birthday of the peppermint benefactor, mild and warm, sunshine soothing, blue sky beckoning, chipmunk cheeks full in anticipation of what’s to come.

Fall at its Best

misty fall

Crows calling in the day, rooster quickly after hens, The Weather Horse and his shadow Rev scrounging acorns from very wet grass, mist hanging on the asparagus and in the field creating faerie tents underfoot, sunlit leaves in their fiery finery sharply contrasted under fabulous blue, the promise of a glorious fall day and the haunting of summer, blissful and gentle.
